Family Secrets recieves CALQ grant. The
Conseil des arts et des lettres Quebec (CALQ) has awarded Family
Secrets a grand for production. Family Secrets,
is an experimental documentary that will explore the notion of family
secrecy and what "truths" lay hidden beneath old family photos
and home movies. The film will piece together
iconic imagery of "family life" with the imagined inner thoughts,
confessions and journal entries of family members. The result will be
a revealing portrait of the inner-workings of the family and its hidden
truths. Production is slated for late 2009.
Karen Cho is continuing with Research/Development
on Ten Thousand Roses. Inspired by Judy Rebick's
book, The documentary film will look at the history and future of the
women's movement in Canada and play-out as a road trip across the country
to uncover the "soul" of Feminism. Ten Thousand Roses is a co-production
between the National Film Board of Canada
and Productions Virage.
In The Shadow of Gold Mountain wins the 2006 Golden Ribbon Award for Diversity in News and Information Programming. The award is given by the Canadian Association of Broadcasters (CAB) for excellence in broadcasting. |
